Additionally, under the Mauritius Integrated Resort Scheme (IRS), high net-worth non-citizens have the unique opportunity of acquiring luxury villas of international standing with high-class amenities and facilities including golf course, marina, individual swimming pool, catering, nautical and other sport facilities and health centre within the boundaries of the integrated resort area. The IRS allows the granting of resident status to the non-citizen acquiring the property and to the spouse and dependents, and this shall remain valid until such time as the non-citizen holds immovable property under the scheme.
A new scheme, the Real Estate Scheme (RES) allows the construction of luxury villas which can be sold below the US$ 500,000 threshold, and the foreignor purchasing a property under this scheme will be granted permanent residency provided they buy a property worth at least US$ 500,000.
